About Toccare

Toccare – Remedial Massage for Health, is owned and operated by Keeley Toirkens.

I love being a massage therapist!

Helping people identify and alleviate their issues and bring relief of pain and restrictions in their bodies is most fulfilling. A win-win!

Having trained under the legendary and late Margaret Wright in 1998, my career as a massage therapist began at a popular health retreat on the Sunshine Coast. This is where my passion grew, as I saw how effective massage is at soothing the nervous system, easing muscle tension and de-stressing the mind. I knew then, I had to learn more!

When my husband was seriously injured in a motorbike accident in 2004, massage was instrumental in the recovery of his muscle function, muscle tension and pain relief, as well as the soothing effect it had on his nervous system. Ultimately, massage brings him the most relief from his many symptoms, especially chronic pain. Working closely with my husband’s injuries and recovery, has given me invaluable experience in treating people with complicated conditions and deep empathy for other pain sufferers and those with a disability.

Over the two decades since I became a professional massage therapist, I have studied various modalities in remedial therapies and worked alongside many reputable therapists. Completing the Diploma in Remedial Massage in 2021 has reinforced my advanced knowledge of muscular and skeletal anatomy and muscle function. This is crucial when trying to identify what exactly we’re dealing with in regards to dysfunction and pain.

My approach to each treatment is one which incorporates assessment of the musculoskeletal system to identify specific dysfunction and then various massage techniques to restore function and mobility. This is most effective in relieving the body of pain and restrictions.

As well as spending time with my family and treating clients, I continue to enjoy practical workshops and honing skills in remedial massage techniques.
